Nature’s Perfect Food?

Yes, we have heard how bad eggs can be to your health in excess, but it seems to me that it’s gotten a bad reputation over the years. Eggs are often misunderstood, with conflicting information swirling around about their health benefits or drawbacks. You’ve likely heard both good and bad, but they’re actually a nutritionally perfect food.

Egg-cellent Nutrition

Eggs are packed with high-quality protein and are naturally low in carbohydrates. Although they lack fiber, the yolk contains almost every vitamin except for Vitamin C. All of this is contained in the yolk for the most part. we are talking about all of that awesome stuff people are spending a pretty penny on to be able to look after their health to get it in pill form: Vitamins D, E, K, and all the B-complex vitamins.

On top of that, the high quality protein makes it essential for muscular health and repair of torn muscle fibers. If you’re looking for the gains, you probably need to pick up the eggs bro. 💪 If you’re dodging carbs to cut down on sugar or stay satiated longer, this is a food that’s low in calories and filling.

The Cholesterol Myth

There’s a lot of debate around eggs and cholesterol. The key issue lies in how nutritional science is often conducted, particularly with dietary studies. The problem with dietary studies is that there’s no real way to conduct randomize controlled trials. I mean, think about it, how do you hide the fact that you’re consuming one or another food without being kept permanently in a lab and fed through a tube? Dietary cholesterol, like that found in eggs, doesn’t necessarily translate to high bodily cholesterol levels. And there’s a wide body of scientists split on the subject because of the types of foods you often pair with eggs:

  • Breakfast sausages, sauces, bread, fries, etc.

And unfortunately, because eggs are high in cholesterol, people tend to assume that this will increase cholesterol levels within your body. But because you’re consuming something doesn’t exactly mean that your body will preserve all of it. I mean, look at vegans… People who are malnourished lacking enough vitamins due to the low absorption that certain vegetables have of key fats, vitamins and minerals.

And I know this for a fact, because I was on a plant-based diet for like 6 years and I was popping more pills than an EDM concert on a daily basis to preserve my “health”. Funny to me about this discussion around LDL cholesterol too since there’s no strong evidence linking egg consumption to increased LDL (bad) cholesterol. In fact, some science has come out talking about the benefits eggs’ cholesterol can have in testosterone production for people.

Incredible Healing Properties?

Eggs might have surprising benefits beyond basic nutrition. A fascinating study from the 1970s looked at burn victims, comparing a control group, a group treated with antibiotics, and a group that consumed 35 eggs a day. Interestingly, the group that consumed eggs exclusively as the intervention to resolve their burns, the scarring was virtually gone after a period of 6 weeks. Which we couldn’t say on antibiotics or without any intervention at all.

You’ve probably never heard of the dude, but Vince Gironda was this unreal body builder way back in the day who was all natural, especially throughout the era of ‘roided Arnold and Lou Ferrigno. He swore by the consumption of eggs to help boost testosterone naturally, especially fertilized female eggs. And Vince died… at 82 years old. Choking to death on food some place. The point is, he lived a healthy life and a long one at that without having to

A Food to swear by

Eggs are a fantastic source of nutrients, and the science surrounding their supposed negative effects is shaky at best. I am a big fan of eggs and they’re really blessed for those looking to adopt a healthier lifestyle. You can quote me on it. If you are not allergic, eggs can be an incredible superfood.
Plus, they’re:

  • Easy to cook
  • Easy to digest
  • Packed with nutrients

Misunderstood superfood

Eggs have been unfairly demonized and need a campaign to stand up for their consumption without moral judgement. While more rigorous research is always welcome, the current evidence suggests that eggs are a healthy and beneficial addition to most diets. Try incorporating more eggs into your weekly meals and see how you feel! Like way more, I swear by it. I’ve definitely experimented with it and I’ve consumed my fair share, but I’m not going to publish just how many in a given day or sit in because… it’s a lot. LOL
